Tinsy is NOT easy to find, and he really likes to hide. We don’t blame the chap, based on his background. You see, Tinsy once lived happily at the North Pole with the rest of Santa’s elves, but one day he got too mischievous for his own good.

He wanted to see if he could fly Santa’s sleigh on his own, commanding all eight reindeer. The only practice he ever had at anything similar was testing the remote control planes for Santa’s toy batch. Tinsy quickly found out the two things are very different when Santa’s sleigh toppled over and rolled down a snowy hill.

None of the reindeer were hurt, but the sleigh did need a few repairs. Since ruddy-cheeked men in red suits are known for being jolly, Santa would have forgiven Tinsy. But Tinsy was too scared to stick around and find out.

He instead fled the North Pole, hitching rides with penguins and pigeons and the occasional kindly motorist.

We found him one morning on Laurie’s doorstep and lovingly took him into the store. Once he came to, he quickly ran and hid in our storeroom, where he makes little bits of mischief all year round.

We coax him out twice each year with licorice jellybeans so he can help us reward our customers with $100 gift cards.

So if you find him amongst our piles and piles of holiday goodies, be gentle – he is kind of shy. And for goodness sake, don’t tell Santa where Tinsy is hiding!
